Museum of the Yellowstone

The Museum of the Yellowstone is just up the road from the Clubhouse Inn and is an excellent place to begin your exploration of the region. Explore the heritage of travel to the Yellowstone from horses to snow planes trains, and the automobile. ​The Museum of the Yellowstone tells the story of travel to and through Yellowstone National Park, and the Park’s influence on West Yellowstone and the Hebgen Lake Basin.

Learn about the the Hebgen Lake earthquake in 1959, the 1988 fires caused by lightning, and the impact of the railroad on the park and the surrounding area. The museum is a great place to spend an hour or two learning about the history of this important place.
